On the first Saturday of December each year, Downtown Momence is transformed into a Christmas wonderland, with a day-long festival featuring children's activities, holiday music, horse-drawn carriage rides, and much more! Lighted storefront windows with the 2018 theme "Christmas Around the World", capture the magic of the season. The celebration of the Community Tree Lighting ceremony happens during the Christmas Gathering each year. The Main Street office on the NW corner of Dixie Highway and West Washington Street becomes the Welcome and Warming Center for the festival.

The "Dickens of a Christmas" Scavenger Hunt is held each year by correctly matching each themed object to its location at participating downtown businesses.

2018 "Dickens of a Christmas" Scavenger Hunt Basket Winners
The winners of Main Street Momence's "Dickens of a Christmas" Basket Give Away were delighted to pick up their baskets recently at the Main Street Office, Visitor's Center for the downtown. Shown from left to right are Christmas Gathering Committee member Diane Rumback, winners Carol Singleton of Momence, Mya Kraus of Momence, Candice Van Voorst of Limestone, and Cindy Keagle, Christmas Gathering Committee member. Each person who entered the drawing visited 24 businesses in search of characters from the story "A Christmas Carol", by Charles Dickens in this annual holiday scavenger hunt. The baskets were filled with Holiday décor, chocolates, gift certificates and much more donated by local businesses and Patrick Cryer of Momence.
2018 Writing Contest Winners
The Annual Christmas Writing contest "The Magic of Christmas”, was organized by Teacher Kelly Handley of Je-Neir Elementary & retired teacher Becky Landrie, and was sponsored by Main Street Momence. Two students from Je Neir and one from Unity Christian were the winners. From left to right and shown with their prize, a "Golden Pass" ticket to the Christmas Gathering, are: 2nd Grader/Unity Christian School- Landon Dandurand of Mrs. Laneville's Class , 3rd Grader/Je Neir Elem-Alexander Bell of Mrs. Vogel's Class, and 4th Grader/Je Neir Elem.-Ariel Kersey of Miss Silva's Class. Ariel was chosen by a drawing to assist Mayor Steele to light the City Christmas Tree.
2018 Holiday Raffle Winners
Shown from left to right are Ray Jacobsen of Momence who won the Grand Prize of $1000 for the Main Street's Holiday Raffle, Pamela Tate-Delk, Board of Director member for Main Street and Assistant Manager of Midland States Bank, Ryan Loftus who won the $500 prize with his son Finn Loftus. Both gentlemen generously donated a portion of their proceeds back to Main Street Momence.
The Holiday Raffle winner for the $250 Prize went to Jane Johnson of Grant Park on the left with Pamela Tate-Delk, Board of Director for Main Street and Assistant Manager of Midland States Bank. Not shown was the $100 Winner- Eli Segal of Lake Zurich, Illinois.
