Beautification Grants

Main Street Momence in conjunction with the Downtown Business Alliance is excited to offer two new grants for 2015 to help you beautify the outdoor areas of your business. Read the specifics below:

Flower Beautification Grant Program

1. The Main Street Momence Grant Program is a means to preserve the architectural history and heritage of the Downtown Momence Historic District.

2. Grants will be made available only one time per year to owners of businesses that are within the Main Street designated boundaries.

3. All business owners in the area described above have the right to make written application to Main Street Momence & the Downtown Business Alliance. Application forms can be picked up at the Main Street Office or will be distributed by the DBA and Design Committee of MSM.

4. The Main Street Momence Board of Directors will have final authority to approve or reject a grant application.

5. Meetings of the Downtown Business Alliance for the purpose to review applications will be closed.

6. An award up to $25 will be given for the purchase of flowers and potting soil. An award up to half of the purchase price of flower containers not to exceed $50 will be given to applicants.

7. All grants applicants will be notified in writing of the results of the Downtown Business Alliance & the Main Street Momence Board of Directors decision on their application.

8. All questions or complaints regarding the Grant Program Policies and Procedures will be directed to Main Street Momence.

9. Grant applicants’ approved will be published in order to spread good will and promote the program.

10. The Flower Beautification grant is available to all downtown businesses and building owners.

11. Acceptable planters include those made of quality resin, clay, wood, ceramic, stone or concrete. We highly discourage plastic planters. Planters should be no smaller than 18 inches in height. Hanging baskets & window boxes are also acceptable.

12. The grant award will be given once flowers and or containers have been purchased and displayed in front of applicant's building or business. A receipt and proof of purchase must be turned in prior to grant award distribution.

Sidewalk Cafe Grant Program

1. The Main Street Momence Grant Program is a means to preserve the Historic Culture of our Community.

2. Grants will be made available only one time to owners of businesses that are within the Main Street designated boundaries.

3. All business owners in the area described above have the right to make written application to Main Street Momence and the Downtown Business Alliance. Application forms can be picked up at the Main Street Office or online here.

4. The Main Street Momence Board of Directors will have final authority to approve or reject a grant application.

5. Meetings of Downtown Business Alliance for the purpose to review applications will be closed.

6. A $250 award will be given for the purchase of 2 tables and at least 4 chairs. An additional $50 award will be given to applicants who purchase umbrellas to accompany the table purchases.

7. All grants applicants will be notified in writing of the results of the Downtown Business Alliance & the Main Street Momence Board of Directors decision on their application.

8. All questions or complaints regarding the Grant Program Policies and Procedures will be directed to Main Street Momence.

9. Grant applicants approved will be published in order to spread good will and promote the program.

10. The Sidewalk Cafe Grant Program is only available to establishments serving food & beverages.

11. The grant award will be given once the sidewalk furniture is purchased and displayed infront of applicant's business. A receipt and proof of purchase must be turned in prior to grant award distribution.

Next up - After a record-breaking year in 2016, Washington Street Downtown will once again come alive with antique and unique "Cool Cars under the Stars" throughout the summer.
